Since yesterday, I've been taking part in the YouTube boycott, which means that I won't be on YouTube until their new policy is reversed. I'm aware that there's a strong chance they will never reverse their policy. Most of the stuff I post goes here anyways, so I don't think it'll affect me that much.
The really scary thing is that, if you choose to submit your ID to YouTube, their servers could hold onto it for up to 2 years. So if someone managed to hack their servers, hundreds of millions of people would have their most precious personal information leaked for everyone to see. I can't help but feel anxious about that...
If people choose to submit to YouTube, this kind of policy could spread everywhere on the internet. Personally, I don't want to live in a future where I will have to be carded just to access the internet. Sounds like a major step towards complete dystopia...

I don't wanna brag, but I always have my search history and watch history turned off. I even turned off personalized ads. I even use an extension called Ghostery to block ads, popups and trackers.

Good for you! I'll consider using it.
I really don't know how well the whole boycott is going, but apparently MatPat is a big supporter of it, and he launched the Creator Economy Caucus recently, so I have a lot of faith in the movement.
